JOB POSTING: EXPEDITION LEADER, MARS EXPLORATION

NASA seeks an explorer to lead an expedition to Mars.

Qualified candidates have:
Demonstrated success in leading explorations.
Experience in exploration of uncharted territory.
The ability to interact with life forms of unfamiliar cultures.

Candidates are required to submit a letter of interest, current resume, and three references.  Documents submitted by email or shared via Google Docs are preferred.

I just wanted to remind everyone to be ready to start work on our Renaissance Tweets project on Thursday and Friday. Please remember to pick the Renaissance figure you want to study for your project, set up an e-mail account, and set up a Twitter account. Follow the model Twitter page (@RabyWashington) I made to help you with your project as well. I posted the instructions for the project as well as a graphic organizer that might help you under the Renaissance section of our resources page.

I've updated Powerschool to show who has shared their website with me. If you have done this, it is marked as collected. If it is not marked as collected, please share your website with me as soon as possible. I am going to make every effort to get them graded over vacation.

How to site the Facts on File Resources

Many of you have been using the resources that I have posted on this website and been asking how to cite them. The files came from a CD I have so you need to format your citations using the information from that. Follow the format below.

Disc Title: Version, Date. "Article Title," pages if given. Publisher.

Based on that format, your citation would look something like this:

Comparative Religions on File: Macintosh version, 2001. "Buddhism: Basic Teachings," p. 1.14. Facts On File, Inc.

Hope this helps you out. If you need help finding the article title or the page number, let me know.

Enjoy the day off everyone and be safe. For those of you in Gold classes, we will continue working on your websites on Tuesday when I see you again. I am pushing the due date back for your classes until Thursday the 14th.

Great classes the past two days and your project

First, I want to thank all of my students for the great classes we had over the past two days. The conversations we had were incredible.

I also want to remind all of you that we will be starting our work on the Religions Google Sites project on Monday. Please make sure that you have chosen the religion that you want to study. You can use the BBC Religions website to help you out if you need to. I have also posted files on a number of religions on our Resources page. Be thinking about what topics you'll be working on in class as well.

Let me know if you have any questions. I'm really looking forward to seeing what you do on these projects.

Easy Bib Chrome Extension

I mentioned in class today an extension from Easy Bib that you can add to Google Chrome. It will allow you to judge a website as well as get the citation for it. Click here for a link to it. This will not work in other web browsers like Firefox and Safari.

Need help choosing a religion for your project?

If you are looking for some help in deciding what religion you would like to examine for your project, the BBC Religions website will be a great resource to help you decide. It will also help you learn more about your religion once you have decided your focus.

It's almost the end of the quarter!

We've got one week to go until the end of the quarter. I believe as of the end of school on Friday your grades are up to date so check them out on Powerschool. If you have any questions about them feel free to e-mail me. If you want to make up some of your missing work, you can access all the Religions unit work by clicking here.

Maps of the Holy Land

Many of you in your work with On Tour with Jesus Christ have asked about the location of various events. I've put two maps in the Religions Resources that will give you a better idea of where places are located in Jerusalem  and the Middle East.

First off, I want to say I'm impressed by the number of people who have gotten ahead on the homework assignments that are due this week. For those of you who haven't started, don't forget you have the Muhammad Acronym and the Sacred Semitic Stories due this week.

Automated Calendar reminders

There seemed to be some positive reaction to automated reminders for our class calendar that is featured on this page. I have shared the calendar with all of you(you should have gotten an e-mail about it) which means that you will get reminders soon. If you want to set up your phone to receive text messages, click here for instructions on how to do that. Please let me know if you are planning on using the text message notifications so I can add them to our calendar.

Our first day back

Thanks to M1 and M2 for a great first day back. I think we had great discussions about religion and are off to a great start to our unit.
